Origin

Sclerotium Gum is a naturally derived biopolymer created through the fermentation of plant-based sugars from wheat and sugar beet using Sclerotium rolfsii, a naturally occurring fungus. The resulting polysaccharide is purified and dried into a fine powder that readily disperses in water, creating a smooth, softly structured gel.

How AREUM Uses It

We use Sclerotium Gum in Guardian Antioxidant Serum to give the water-based formula its light, silky texture. It gently thickens and stabilises the serum, helping its carefully selected antioxidants, botanical extracts and hydrating ingredients remain evenly dispersed while allowing Guardian to glide effortlessly across the skin.

We chose Sclerotium Gum over other natural gums for the refined texture it brings to a leave-on serum. Some gums can feel sticky, heavy or slightly stringy on the skin. Sclerotium Gum creates a smoother, softer gel with an elegant slip and a comfortable, non-tacky finish.
